My friend yang, aka yy101 on this board recently discovered that:

He lives next door in the gold coast to a bmw mechanic who worked at bmw in the 60s and 70s

He also within walking distance from arguably one of the most honest and knowledgable bmw independant mechanics in South East Queensland

My division of the company (we both work for the same company) is soon to be employing a english bmw factory trained mechanic (who nows works on all kinds of big machinery) to work as a mechanic at the site in gladstone where he works (he works away from home most of the time going home about once a month or so)

So....... lucky him, he seems to be surrounded by bmw mechanics everywhere he goes.
