Put some duct tape over for now, order a new boot.Originally Posted by Alpinewhite
Hi All,
I need to get this of my mind. What is the risk of dirt and possibly some fine sand entering the intake manifold (of M60 motor) through a torn intake boot.
I noticed it after going for a long drive (600 miles round trip) to Savannah beaches. Could I have damaged the cylinder walls, being M60 and all I am a little worried.
Thanks
Arun

Thank you. I have already replaced with a new intake boot. I want to know how bad I messed up.Originally Posted by ILoveMPower

probably not much if any got in, not much airflow through the crack to carry dirt in
all america wants is cold beer warm cat and a place to take a poop with a door on it
You're fine.
I used to run a piece of aluminum window screen over the intake on my turbo. Look at me, I'm fine.

I ripped an intake 'boot' putting in a new air filter in my last BMW, the rubber was so dry, it cracked when I was bending it up.
I put duct tape over it, and got some new rubber from the dealer.
