The S4 is awesome, I actually drove it to work today. Always look for a car with recepts for work done. Then check out rennlist.com and look into the 928 mailing list. Similar to the list here, they write back and fourth all day asking for help and giving it. Had a 928S previously, the S4 is a lot more car. Of course the S was auto. The GTS is the pinnacle in 928's and expensive. Parts are expensive, but that's expected. Yearly maintenace is in the $2000 range depending on condition when you bought it. All in all an awesome car. I get lotsa looks and challenges, haven't lost one yet. 316hp 315lb-ft. Just plain badass. Its a lot of car for the price. Take a few for test drives and you'll see.

Never had major issues. Brakes are easy, oil changes are easy. Just like any other car for the most part. Tranny work and some electrical it goes to the shop. But other than that, I have yet to need a manual. BTW, I am a mechancal engineer so working with my hands and head is the way I am. Fixingthem is usually easy, diagnosing them, well that's why shops make $70+ an hour.

I suspect this is where the term blowing smoke up your A** came from
Actually this is an old cockfighting term. It got the roosters in the mood to fight.

there are a couple of gaskets that you should replace. there are the front and rear of the intake manifold, then there are 4 inside the intake manifold. also the o-rings to the MAF, the ASC throttle (if applicable), the air filter box, and the ICV. if any of them down wind from the MAF have a leak, it will cause a problem. they can crack from age, and when the temp in that area gets hot they expand and seal up better. also replace the air intake temp sensor.

Hey, I was trying to read all I could find on intake leaks. I don't look at the dates on this stuff...its not like it wears out any different than it did two years ago.
