Default When high milage becomes an issue for a potential buyer

Hello fellas, I am a total newb to BMW's, but am potentially in the market for an E34. After searching a bit, it seems the general consensus is the 535i is much more easy to work on than the 530i. It also seems that high milage really doesn't affect these cars. To what extent is this true? Also, what is everyone's opinion on the 525iX? Would it also be a good candidate for a 17 year old such as myself? I am good with tools, but have no prior experience on autos. Thanks,
    Josh

one thing to consider on a X is the hard to find driveline parts, mileage is not as much of a consern as how it was cared for, regular oil changes and the occaisional coolent change do wonders for saving money on other things, i wouldn't consider a 200k mile 535 bad and wouldn't think twice, a 200k 525 can be a little rough but still a good car, they are not quite as tough as a 535 though

find something well maintained, hopefully with records. maybe an avid bimmer person. remember these cars cost 10k weather new or old, with upkeep and restoration 10k, the value dropped last few years so figure 8k. sorry

if you can find a 5-speed. usually at about 100-140K miles.. you need to refresh the entire front suspension.. If service record shows that is done that will save you about $500-700 in parts and labor.

M50 525 or a M30 535 are both pretty reliable. water pump and radiator should be changed on a higher mileage car..
