    Default MAS problem?

    I have had a hard start when warm then stumble problem with 1990 735 IL. The check engine light stays on until I get rid of the stumble by pressing the throttle to clear it ou.
    I did a stomp test, and the code indicates its the MAS.
    Does a bad MAS cause these symptoms and is it likely bad or just a bad connection to it or something? Is there an easy way to test for this?

    it's fairly easy to pop the top off the air flow meter and clean the trace with a non residual cleaner, like tuner spray or contact cleaner, reseal the top with silicone
