    Default Loctite on big nut?

Is the big nut (on the front crankshaft that secures the timing chain) held by Loctite?

In other words, would heating the big nut with a propane torch help in loosening it?

its held by torque, im thinking upwards of #300. long breaker bar (4 foot) and locking the flywheel is in order.

Yes, 300lb of torque could be considered loctite.

I believe Winfred has used the starter motor and a breaker bar braced against something to crack it. Sounds uhm...........winfred

Well, two euro car mechanics of good repute here in town have told me they use the starter motor trick, for 20+ years, without ill effects. Still, it worries me.

would freak me out also but the starter motors generate quite the torque.
