I'm not sure about the E30 M3 shifter, but I am using a shifter from a Z3 and it works great.

I'm using the Euro e36 M3 shifter & it works great. Here's an assortment of various shifters:

    The missing part number is 25 11 1 222 955

You can do a part number search on www.realoem.com to find what models the various part numbers were used on.

I'm using a Z8 shifter. Any BMW shifter will work as long as it has the bend in it. BMA sells a complete kit, I'm not sure what shifter they used though.

The Z3 would give you a shortest shift, but it doesnt have the bend.
The E36 series would give the shortes shift movement, of those with the bend.

    I have the E36 M3 shifter
    I like it very much!
Purchased from BMA. The kit did not have everything I needed for a shift linkage overhaul, so I purchased the remaining items from a local dealer.
Didn't bend anything b/c everything cleared the guibo and shaft, but always double check to make sure nothing touches.

    Ditto, and it's great.

Plus I have the added esoteric satisfaction of knowing that one small, hidden part of my car came off a $200,000 Bondmobile

I'm using a modified E30 short shift in my car. I cut it right down in height for comfort. The difference was unbelievable! It's been on 2 years and I can't imagine life without it - it's even shorter than the Z3 one. It's the same height as the one on the new Astra's. Just a little stubby thing poking up - so comfortable! I give it 12/10! I can post a pic tomorrow if u are interested!

    Cheers,

    Shaun
