i have a grey market 1989 525i (5-spd w/no options whatsoever. no a/c no cruise,manual sunroof, manual REAR windows and cloth seats). i am wondering if the grey market version may have more HP and/or torque compared to the U.S. model and what may cause the difference. (i.e. gearing ,mechanical, ecm programming, etc.) as i do not want to replace any thing that may be beneficial to performance during my replacement of parts as the time comes. also , does anyone make a turbo exhaust manifold for the M20 engine?

i think and its only my opinion, it has nothing to do with performance, it is just a bugdet thing for a cheaper market.

the euro models do make slightly more horsepower than the US versions
