does a 4hp22 trans from a 1990 bmw 325i fit into a 1990 bmw 535i

it won't bolt up due to different bellhousing bolt pattern, the tail housing is a little different too, the bellhousing is swappable and the tail should be, i am trying to remember if the m20 e34 has a guibo or a u-joint at the tranny, think it's a u-joint like a 535, at which point the tranny should be able to be made to work but i've never tried
