A or M....that is the question..

well, at least..my question...

my 95 525i didnt come with a manual and I'm still trying to figure out what the A/M switch does next to the automatic shifter...push up for A...down for M...changes the letter on the dash LED from E to M....I've searched it but can find anything. Help?

The 'A' is for adaptive where is changes the shift points to match you driving habit in general terms.

For example try putting your foot all the down at 40 and then take your foot off and you should find it holds the gear, great for performance driving.

The 'S' is for sports mode. I have not had the need to use it. It is used the hold the shift gear point higher.

E for economy (shifts regular)

M manual (told my Wife to never use this because she drives like an escapee and don't want her to fry something from not shifting at the right speed)
