1986 735i botton heater vent inop help

Any ideas on where to start? Also the defrost vent to fron vent changes slowly. I just rebuilt the swithces and temp wheel switch after many years of it being inop and only blowing out the defrost vent.

I assume it is a E23, later half 1986 the 32 came up. Ask here, there are the experts
