So far, Yiorgos has made it in. Chatting is definitely superior to thread tag and refresh. If a lot of people end up taking interest, we can poll for a get together day and time weekly to shoot the breeze. Looking forward to hearing from others.
Since I idle a ton on irc and take part in a lot of fansubber's channels, and noticing the chat link doesn't seem to work on the page, I went ahead and registered bimmer-info on rizon if anyone wants to use that as a live-chat source. This was really successful on another enthusiast board I was a part of and we actually set up one day a week (say 8-10pm on Sundays) where everyone got together rather than playing thread tag. Anyway to anyone who's new to irc you can get the client at www.mirc.com
server is irc.rizon.net
channel is #bimmer-info (the pound has the be there)
Naturally I'll add chanserv ops to moderators and the like. Enjoy.. I may be on, but idling from time to time, so I'm not trying to be mean and ignore anyone![]()

about you Yiorgos but I'm won't be at my best at 4.00am chattting to the wide-awake folks on the US east coast. I only get up that early to watch the Yankees play![]()
Its costs $20![]()

What does? if you're referring to the client software, it has a registration popup, but it really doesn't do anything if you close it
I run a custom script called Polaris SE, which was based off mirc and even though its functions are custom made, the pop up still comes every once in a while.

there's an irc client for macs too called Ircle. You can get it here : http://www.ircle.com/
For moderators and regulars getting ops, h-ops and voice, you'll have to register your nick used on the server. The command to walk you through that process is :
/msg nickserv help register (this process only takes a few minutes and irc doesn't spam mail after the confirmation)
After registering, the first time you "identify" (which is like logging in your registered name) it will +r (identify) you automatically. Afterwards you'll have to do it manually with command :
/msg nickserv identify *your password*
The reason identifying will be important is so I can set the channel limitations to registered users only and not spammers with porn or whatever else, but for a while I'll leave it open until the majority of people are registered and in. Hopefully we can poll a day and time once a week to get together for a mass chat session or something. Any other questions, feel free to shoot and I'll try to answer them![]()
I'm sure that HDhandyman was joking, but that stuff about Mac users not having anything to do or any software to use is rubbish.
I know because I am using a Mac right now.
There are a few chat clients around for Macs, ircle is not bad, there is Snak, Colloquy or what I use, X-Chat Aqua, which does a very decent job.
You can set up X-Chat to auto-identify yourself, that way you don't have to send /msg's to nickserv each time you connect to identify yourself.
Best of all, it's free. No nag screens like stupid mIRC![]()
