I have 18x8 on the front running 255/40/18 and 18x9 on rear running 265/35/18. No problems at all. Handling has increased since tire/wheel upgrade. I also have Eibach lowering springs on the vehicle.
Hi Guys,
Am thinking of getting a set of Alpinas for my E34 and would like to seek the sifus' advice on the recommended tyre size options as well as spacer sizes. This would be my first time running on a staggered set-up and so would appreciate the help.
I'm currently running an E34 on Lowered Sachs Sporting Kit and on 18" Hamman HM-2s, non-staggered running on 235/35/18.
As such, what would be the recommended tyre & spacer sizes required for for the following rim sizes:
- 18 X 8"
- 18 X 8.5"
- 18 X 9"
- 18 X 9.5"
- 18 X 10"
- 18 X 10.5"
I hear that for E34, it'd be best not to run with a too wide a wheel width, so appreciate if you guys could advise on the recommended maximum width size as well.
Also, as I'm running on a lowered suspension, would there be any rubbing to the fenders or shocks assuming I'll ride with a load of 3 adults in the back seat?
All related advice and recommendations are much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Yes, yes.. some of us model our future upgrades on your numbers
I have 18x8.5 with 235/40/18 on the front and 18x9.5 with 265/35/18 on the rear.
I didnt rub with a trunk full of golf bags and luggage and 2 adults in the rear. The tires tucked right into the fenders.

17x8.5 front 235/45/17 and 17x10 rear 255/40/17 - rubs in the back over big dips
No offence, but these informations are useless without ofsets (ET).

Okay, super sorry yani. ET 15 front and ET 18 rear. I think. Might be the other way around.

245/45/18 front and 285/35/18 in the rear. The rear rubs like **** and I would not reccomend that size

Thanks all for the advice. Really valuable input.
The current owner of the rims advised that I may have to roll fenders for the rear but the front's alright. Not very sure about the offset as well, but they're original Alpina Classics.
Hi Guys,
Just to update on the size, finally got the key to open up the wheel cover from the owner. The rim sizes are 18X9J Offset 12 (Front), and 18X10.5J Offset 20 (Rear).
Would 10.5" wide wheels be a tad too wide for the rear?
Cheers!
