Autohaus offers ElringKlinger set for up to 8/92 (non vanos) in 7mm for $11 ea (2 per car) or ElringKlinger/Victor Reinz in singles and not as a "kit" (the pic looks like its lacking something?) for $0.50 ea in 7mm... so, do I get the ElringKlinger set for $22 or the single pieces from Elring/Victor Reinz?
Also - for the crankshaft oil seal (rear) do I use the original with tension spring or updated version without? One is like $6 the other is $20 (without is more expensive)

They seal great after the fact?
yeah, didnt have any issues with them...
Used the Victor Reinz during my recent engine rebuilid and have had no issues. I wasn't aware the rear main seal came without the 'spring'. I chewed mine on instal and now suffer a very minor minor M1 leak. OOops, It'll get remedied when the clutch gets done years from now

Dave did you buy individual seals then?
Nope. They were part of a head gasket kit (BMA). Not sure what they'd cost alone, but given the amount of stuff you get in the kit, they were likey quite cheap.Originally Posted by Jon K
Are you doing the seals yourself or having a machine shop di it?

they come in a headset, i like the goetze brand set, i like the orignal type seal with the spring
all america wants is cold beer warm cat and a place to take a poop with a door on it
yeah I wont be buying a headgasket set because I am going to be using MLS
but all of the other stuff is handy for sealing up all of the other crap, getting a headset is usually cheeper then if you need to get more then about half of the crap that comes with the set, intake/exhaust gaskets, front upper timing cover gasket, valve cover gasket, various o-rings and washer seals, valve stem seals, heater pipe gasket.........ect
