Evan, I just bought the same KYB shocks from this guy. How was the packaging once it arrived? Was anything damaged? And did you put them on yet? How does it feel

Stay away from AutoPartsWarehouse!! I ordered replacement shocks from them for my E36 M3 after confirming that they had everything in stock first. I got a call a day later saying that everything was backordered except for one shock that shipped. I asked for a refund and waited 3 days for a credit to hit my account. I then called to find out how long would my refund take and the guy said it takes about 2 weeks!!! After that I quickly fired off an e-mail to customer service stating that if I didn't get my refund soon (for the items that didn't even ship to me YET!) then I was going to report them to the BBB.

Long story short, I received my credit the next day.

Amen. I lost one of the nuts that goes on top of the strut to hold it all together. I realized this only while installing the last corner. Lets just say I went through one lonnnnnngggggg and frustrating search with a lopsided car on 3 new shocks/springs & one blown shock trying to find the right part, so MAKE SURE these components are included.

Cool. I ordered with these KYB shocks/struts, the KYB strut boot with bumpstops, and mounts.

Does the bump stop that comes with the boot have to be modified like the Bilsteins? I'm thinking no, but I don't know for sure.

Evan, I just wanted to point out that I installed my two KYB shock inserts with the KYB strut boot, KYB bumpstops, and new Eibach springs yesterday. It took so long that I will have to do the rears later on.

What I don't understand is the widespread histeria about KYB's shocks. They feel great with these springs! I can't wait until I get the rear done. The car feels so solid and taut. I'm glad I took the time to get it done right. Is the ride harsh? I'd have to say NO.

The KYB struts I have don't fit properly with the H&R springs. When I fully torque the top nut, there is little or no tension put on the spring... the KYB strut piston is longer than Boge...

I wish I never would have bought them.

    How did your install go?

Are you sure you bought the right ones? 540i's do have different struts than the rest of the earlier e34's IIRC. Could have been false advertising on the sellers part, because I'm running H&R sports + KYB's and it's a fine combo.

Did you use regular thickness spring pads or the 3mm spring pads?

I used the spring pads that were originally there. I suppose they are OEM. I didn't measure them, sorry. But I did clean them with some Simple Green if that helps.
