Default 1990 525i Central Locking System

    I have a 1990 BMW 525i without keyless entry.

    Here is what I know:

    1. Dome lights and window switch lights go off and on when I turn the key in drivers door.

    2. I can hear the seloniod click in the rear door when I turn to unlock but not when I lock.

    3. I can not push ANY of the lock plungers up or down from the inside. It's like they are jammed in the open position.

    4. I checked the trunk switch, ok. I can here the selonoid open and close when I turn the key.

    5. I've tried reseting system by turning the key all the way to the left while lifting the handle from the outside which it does do but doesn't solve my problem.

    6. Checked the fuses under the back seat, none were blown.

    7. I took the panel off the driver door and checked all the wires to make sure none were frayed or broken, all ok.

Usually you can lock all doors when you push down the pin at driver's door from inside.
If that does not work, maybe you have a broken wire from the A-pillar to the driver's door.
Remove the door panel and remove and get your tester ready.
    It could be like this

I assume that you already checked the fuses and relays?

Check the 7.5AMP fuses under the seat that control the central door system.

sounds like a fuse if they all don't work. under your back seat.

hmm, i'd try one of the higher traffic boards or the yahoo list. There's been LOADS of info covered on this topic.
