I C Bill... I haven't done it on BMW tranny so I wouldn't know... MB tranny give you enough room to put in normal socket. You are right... darn cheap stuff at Harbor Freight and good enough for most of us to use.

After two years, the rear tranny seal (Changed by an expensive Michigan garage twice) started to leak again.. So I am going to change it while installing a Z8 shifter.
While I am at it I will change the center bearing and the guilbo and all the shifter parts.

    Makes perfect sense... to me.

Default Self-depreciating humor won't squelch the rest of us

from picking on the Bellevue Circle Jerk. Where is the lucky recipient of the interior? Haven't seen him around here lately..........unappreciative bastard

Default There's an Armstrong socket that.....

works out of the box. It's a 1-3/16, 1/2" drive, six-point Armstrong No. 12-238. The key is the socket OD, it must be 1-9/16" or less to fit inside the output flange. Be sure you pry out the locking plate or none of these sockets will work. The centering sleeve shown in the photo is .815" OD x .565" ID and allows one-hand operation.
