    Default stupid seat thing...funny

I'm driving my e34 540/6 (M-sport seats) with a larger friend of mine in the passenger seat. I floor it in first gear and then "powershift" into 2nd making the car lunge forward and the tires squeak. I also hear a weird kind of cracking noise. I get out of the car and notice that the back rest for the passenger seat is not straight. If u look at the seat from the back it is not aligned (looks really weird) and it feels kind of crooked. What could this be? How can I fix it? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like one side of the seat recliner moved without the other. You need to disconnect the cable from one side of the seat where it connects with either the motor or the worm drive on the seat mechanism. Then, when you operate the power seat only one side will move and you can realign it and then reconnect the other cable.

If that isn't what it is, he could have bent the seat frame. I've never heard of this happening on an E34. I'm a pretty big guy too and my seat is fine.

On e28's for example broken seat frame is rather common.
