Hello! I have a question - if I delete the resonator what can I put in its place instead of straight pipes? For instance I've heard theres bullet resonators and x-pipes, will any of these help keep the noise down and provide better performance? Can they be combined in tandem?
What would the cost be like?

an x pipe is better for exhaust pressure equalization.

Thanks for the info gviloria99 and BillionPa. So a good setup would be an x-pipe, no bullet resonators? Any more info?
Don't need an x pipe, the exhaust meets up at the muffler. The x pipe only helps when installing true dual exhaust system, by that I mean you install 2 mufflers and 2 tailpipes.

I would then need a y-pipe to run it into a bullet resonator, run single pipe to the muffler?
I'm starting to think stock setup is best, as I've read some complaints about straight pipes - raspiness, etc. Unless theres a better solution out there.
Full aftermarket exhaust, for instance the remus, looks like it has a fairly small resonator - but the downside is the cost.

Ok, I got a plan

this way no y-joint will be required and I can continue to run twin pipes down to the muffler.
I'll update as more info becomes available.
Here is some indea from an E32, I posted earlier this year, pics

I had a heartge exhaust put on, and it wasn't loud enough so I went ahead and had streght pipes put in instead of the resonator, no power increase but it got a litte louder and introduced a tiny bit of raspyness but it sounds good, not ricy.
EDIT
Actually listn to my dyno video
Would this setup fit an e34? It looks like the long straight pipes would interfeer with the left backwheel?
