    Default Climate Control Retro-fit

    Hey everyone,

I have a stock(ish) 525i with the normal climate control (three dial knobs and the sliders), I was wondering if it's possible to just remove this and replace it with the units that came with the 540i's?

Is it a simple plug-and-play or is there more involved in retrofitting this?

    Cheers,

you need a LOT more, like pretty much every electronic piece in the aircon system.

In my opinion not possible, the part shown is for an IHKA unit for the full automatic Klimatronik, whereas you probably have the aircon in standard version.

To be more precise, you have the IKHR3F and that is the IHKA. You have to replace ALL, that means the complete aircon system with stepper motors etc. If you want to do it, here is a manual with 72 pages, see the pics of the different systems

    Thanks for the info guys.

For some reason I thought that it was just plug-and-play, not sure where I read that but it is very clear now that that source was absolutely wrong.

I had the idea that if it was plug-and-play then I would have a crack at doing the job. Anything more than that, and it would be out of the question.

I guess this is definitely out of the question then
