I go WOT on my way to the train station 3 mins from my house, why not?
First, last night I disassembled my air filter box, removed the Air Flow Meter (AFM) and completely cleaned it out with no-residue brake cleaner. It was filthy! When I put everything back together again, I was struck with a sudden fear that the car would not run. But of course everything was fine. It seems to drive a little smoother today but that could just be my imagination from the placebo effect. Since it was a daily office commute, I had to chance no try wide open throttle driving. I will have to go for a non-commute drive to see if there is a difference after cleaning the AFM.
Second, I have enquired with Cosmo Racing for their strut bar listed here:

The next one I could source was a Racing Dynamics one by at $295 CAD instead of $150 CAD for the Cosmo one. My only concern is whether that particular strut bar which is designed for a standard E34 series will have issues with Alpina's plumbing. We shall see.
The next item on my to do list is to replace the guibo and center bearing. I am pretty sure the slop and clicking I am hearing whenever I clutch in and out at low speeds is due to it. If you think it may be something else, please chime in here.
The next item following that is to replace the all the bushings in the suspension and steering system for a tighter feel overall. This along with the hopeful strut bar mentioned above will help the car feel more responsive.

I don't apply WOT until the oil temperature reads 80* C or above. This gives the car's metal and oil components to warm up to a reasonable level to avoid premature wear and tear. I also watch the rear differential temperature warm too before engaging in high speed runs.
Bah the car is warmed up after 10 mins of driving...
where the hell are the pictures of said bi-turbo?!?!?!?! cmon now

If you are thinking about water temperature yes. Oil temperature of the engine and rear differential temperature, no. It depends on ambient temperature and other factors.Originally Posted by Jon K
I never said I didn't run WOT. I just don't do it until the oil temperature (which is an indication of how warm the metal parts are) is up to 80*C or more. You are welcome to pull the engine to redline from a cold start. I just don't do it to my car.![]()
