520i steering issues
I am hoping I don't have to replace my steering box...
My steering had a little bit of play and wouldn't pass the MOT inspection. I checked out all of the tie rods and linkages all look fine. I have adjusted the screw in the top of the steering box. But the steering is ether loose with play or solid as a rock and really hard to drive. I think I will have to replace the box but wanted to ask if anyone has had this problem.
Does any of the other 5 series boxes interchange with mine? I have a BMW "M".
Any ideas?

It has 210 K KM. German Spec car. I am stationed in Germany.
