    Default Thinking about these wheels

I'm thinking about getting a set of 16" Rondell 58's for my stock height 1990 535i.

    Ebay wheels

I don't really want to lower the car, so I was thinking 16's so it's not much different from stock. I think it looks out of place when you put 17's or 18+ on a stock height car with lower profile tires. The overall diameter is still the same but the gap is just more noticeable. So that's why I was thinking 16's, a little lower profile and bigger rim but not too much. What do you guys think?

I can pick up a set of 16's with tires, center caps, lugs, mounted, balanced and shipped for right under $1200. Does that sound good and does anyone have any experience with The Wheel Exchange?

Any other place to by Rondell #58's?

I like those wheels! It sounds like the good price, but I'm no expert. Others could probably say for sure.

mine has 17" and when i asked here about the relative height of the suspension everyone said it was stock. I have yet to inspect the suspension myself in the two months i've had it so i assume its not lowered.

First of all, beautiful car. That is the perfect stance, wheel size, etc if you ask me. But, that's not stock. At least I'm pretty sure it isn't. Look at the slant tward the front of the car on the side skirts. From the bottom edge of the car you can tell the car slants forward. Stock e34s are pretty level. This causes there to be a bigger wheel well gap in the front, because the front fender is cut higher. But yours are pretty even.

Look at the way mine sits:

I see what you're saying and thought something had to have been done by the Previous Owner to lower something. I am getting new rotors soon and i'll post what i find when i have it up and can look at the shocks.

Nice wheels, but personally i'd go to 17" rims. As rule of thumb if going larger wheels then up 2" in size. Had 16" on my old 535i and on stock springs just looked plain odd, not so bad on lowered springs though, but rolling diameter was 1" less than stock so speedo was out.
Pic is of my 535i going to the crusher!! Took off the 18" rims and put back the old 16" 8J BBS ones. Badley curbed too from previous owner.

    Jehu,

I really like those wheels, they are my top candidate right now. Do you know how much they weigh?

Also, the 540i came lower than other E34's. I think it is .8" lower I read somewhere.

Email Bjorn at Rondell; bjoern.ottersbach@rondell.de . He helped me figure out which size hub centric rings i needed to fix the shimmy. I'd bet he could readily give you the weight of the size you want.My car came with the 704 M SPORT SUSPENSION option, bigger sway bars and lowered .I'm not sure of the exact figures but it just occurred to me i still don't know with certainty the previous owners didn't furthur modify the suspension in any other way. I think i read them here somewhere.Mine have a few spots of road rash around the lips and i had to true two but the good news was they responded well .The lowered height feels incredible taking curves fast. It really owns the road, just amazing.

If they're OE, it's an okay price. Else you can get 18" M-Pars (replica) for that price with rubbers.
