Default This is what you find after a tranny rebuild...

Well, she's back from the shop. Rebuilt tranny, works like a charm. Had them do a bunch of stuff while they were there. Total : $3150 cnd. He had the box of parts they removed from the tranny. Apparently, it wasn't good, as you can see. Last pic is of the driveshaft disc, he changed it because it was cracked to hell. He also cleaned up and flush my rear diff. no charge. (well, just the fluid). And I am now running BMW approuved MOTUL 5w40 synthetic oil. Oh well, in for a penny, in for a pound....

That first picture illustrates the most common failure of the 4L30e. If this is their second time rebuilding the trans, I hope they extended the warranty on it.

No, this time, I took it to a specialist. My original tranny was junked and I put a used one in, this one. 4 months later, it craps out. Now, I take it to a pro, whom I had consulted 4 months ago and he recommeded a rebuild back then, and he rebuilds this one. So I'm out $1400 for the tranny for 4 months use. $350 a month for a transmission. Hum... and I thought i made a good deal with my used one....

Most people forget this transmission got its start in mail trucks and Chevettes. The core hard parts are from the TH-180
