i think the timing belt is part of the periodic maintenance...
welcome aboard!
hi there everyone , i don't seem to be having much luck with cars at the moment, until last year i had a really nice pulsar , i owned it for 3 years , then i smashed it quite badly (it's under cover outside my house at the mo). so between cars i found myself using the worst audi 80 in the world every time it rained the footwells would fill up with water , mouldy as hell inside too.
I then bought an e34 525i, i had to replace a broken rocker on it so i managed to buy it quite cheap only £300 , and got it going . I thought that i would use this as an interim car while i repaired my pulsar, but the pulsar is way too bent to repair. When i first started driving the e34 i wasn't too keen on it, but after a while it seems to have grown on me and i quite like it. Anyway i have scince done all the brake disc's and pad all round and gave it a full service, when i did the brakes i noticed that the front shocks were leaking so i ordered a jamex spring and shock kit for it only £205 off ebay, not bad i thought , i was driving to plymouth hospital the other day i had just overtaken 2 cars when the engine decided to go pop , luckily it was only a few miles from where i live and i got the car back later that same day, iv'e managed to source another engine for £395 delivered and a new cam belt fitted with a 90 day warranty , lets hope my luck changes![]()

This is true on the M20 engine. They say it should be replaced as soon as you buy one, regardless of the last time it was replaced. It is also said they should be changed every 50-60k miles. Welcome aboard also!!Originally Posted by 632 Regal
