I hear Metric Mechanic recommends this swap for M5s - check them out. Ratios may be a bit wider than the 280 though.Originally Posted by MTechnik540i
Considering a much cheaper route, possibly picking up a G260 instead of another G280...wondering what kind of downsides there might be with doing something like this.
Any recommendations appreciated,

I'm currently running the Euro 260 box from my 6/90 E34 535i mated to the
S38 B38 3.8L M engine.
7500 kms so far no problems.
Don't believe any major problems in fitting
Mine is currently running clutch and Twin Mass Fly from the 3.8l which gives me a softer cluch pedal.
Well, following this up...I spoke to a couple people today, including Jim Rowe @ MM, and it sounds like the Getrag 265 is definitely the ticket, even compared to the 6spd 420 in the late Euros. This may be the route we take with the transmission instead of another 280.Originally Posted by MTechnik540i
