did it smoke for a while after replacement?

I could not even believe the **** that came out there. I filled the cooling system up 3 times with water for a complete flushing ( i pulled the block plug everytime - what a mess).

While I had everything disassembled, I took the opportunity to put in an adjustable cam gear to see if i could get some more fun out of my Schrick cam. I set it 2 degrees advance. So far after only an afternoon of driving, I can definitely tell that the sweet spot were the cam comes on has moved down in the rpm range. I think i like it.
