Pulled the valve cover off today
Well I'm starting the process of valve adjustment, and too my suprised, it is very clean under the cover. I'm the 3rd owner, and was scared to see what was lurking under the valve cover. i can see why i had a nast tap. Some of the valves are pretty loose. Banjo bolts are tight though. well back to the job. updates when finished.

Castrol GTX High milage 10w 40. This has been used since 120,000 miles, and before this was Castrol GTX 10w 40. The previous owner, my boss' father had all the records.

I change and always has been changed every 3k miles. Just so everybody knows I did not wipe any of the parts off. I'v changed some valve cover gaskets and valve adjustments many times, and none have been this clean. This is the first I've taken this one off. Shocked me! Hopefully it will stay this way. Thanks for the bump Ericcamaro

My valvetrain is at least that clean, although it should be with 112k. The underside of my valve cover is yellow/carmalized, but my valvetrain is the same color as yours...

Mine too, after 220,000 the inside was like that but a bit darker underneath the cover. Even better the cylinder bores were perfect with no wear visible or detectable with a finger or a nail up the bore to where the ring turns at the top of its cycle.Originally Posted by Alexlind123

I have really not see a ton of sludged up m30 motors. See a lot of m50's that get all caked up but rarely see an m30.
