Default Anyone ever used stock e34 M5 exhaust?

Would this fit onto the m50 525i with no problem? (from the cat-back of course). Is the performance on par with other performance exhausts? I am thinking of swapping from my Supersprint to M5 because I will be having a 2 hour commute and want the quiet-ride. However, I dont want to lose much HP. Are the pipe dimensions as large on the M5 unit. I have about 385hp now, would I be shooting myself in the foot by swapping?
    Thanks, Colin

    Default I triple that question.

    135 extra horsepower doesn't come easy from a 2.5litre.

if i can put a e32 750il catback with 2 1/2" pipes on my 90 535, you can put a m5 on a 525. i welded the flanges from the 535 resonator on the front of the 750 resonator after i shortened it about a foot (that's where they made the extra length between the e34/e32i/e32il, from the resonator back it's aprox the same size)

all america wants is cold beer warm cat and a place to take a poop with a door on it

Thanks Winfred, that's helpful...the 385hp is from an s52 (3.2) with a Vortech blower and Schrick cams. I mentioned m50 as the block dimensions are all the same between the s52 and m50. The motor makes 320hp at the wheels. With 17% driveline loss, it is about 387hp at the crank.
I agree that 385 would be pushing a 2.5 very hard, though with enough boost, I guess.......

Winfred, so you have stock cat then 535i resonator, then e32 resonator, then e32 rear muffler? That must be pretty quiet! You shortened the pipes in front of the e32 resonator then?
    Thanks, Colin
