the M30 is actually 3430 cc
The M30 engine, I see references that say it is 3.5 liter and also ones that say 3.4 liter.
What gives?
the M30 is actually 3430 cc
Gone but not forgotten
I think people get confused because (I guess) BMW decided to name their cars with more thought put into the sound of the names vs. actual accuracy in describing the engine size (535i sounds a bit nicer than 534i). There are many other examples of this: the E39 540's and later E38 740's actual had 4.4 liter engines, and the early E46 323's had 2.5 liter engines...

Germans: Why can't they make everything?
Heh, I'm an engine bigot. That'd be mainly M3 racing I think.. but no doubt there would be many an interesting turn.Originally Posted by rob101

Surely there are better people on this board than me to do such a work.
Actually I'd love a V8 e34, but have an attachment to this motor I just can't describe! Had the girlie in the car today as we slipped ever so serenly sideways in the wet in a perfectly cambered spot. Freida came back from the wide slip and I resisted the urge to keep her tailing for a way without upsetting her Highness. The fat sways prevent any rocking about. This M30's good enough for me...
