I can let you know tonight...or look here http://www.bimmer.info/forum/showthr...52434#poststop
Hi all,
1st real post - I purchased a '90 535im a couple weeks ago (after reading this forum for a few months) and am loving it. A coolant hose was about ready to burst, so I have drained the coolant and am changing all hoses, including heater hoses.
While working on the heater hoses, I came across a wire that seems to have corroded, and it goes nowhere. The funny thing is - just about everything on the car works - AC, heater, etc. I don't have the Bentley manual yet (it is in the mail), so I am posting a pic of this wire hoping that someone knows what it is and where it should be connected.
Thanks, and I look forward to talking to you more in this forum.
I'll post some pics of the car as soon as I get it put back together!

That is a broken harness from the auxiliary water pump, on the pump side. Buy a new pump and it'll come with the wire/harness connector back to where it meets the engine bay harness connector.
best, whit
I took a look at that picture, and I could not pick the cable out - more help would be appreciated...

Thanks for the info.Originally Posted by lowell
I wonder how long this has been broken - what problems would be exhibiting themselves? I have noticed nothing wrong the past couple weeks...
Does this need to be fixed immediately? Or can I go a bit before having to purchase a new auxiliary water pump?
Can i repair the connection somehow? So that I don't have to purchase a new pump?
