Default Yet another Alarm prob; Please be gentle

I know you guys are probably sick of alarm questions, but this is different. I have a different model to the one depicted on this forum. It's this one

the UK model. When I disconnected the battery to do some work on the boot cable tree (sheared through) upon reconnection the indicators flashed as did the LED on the dash, yet after starting the first time it did not restart blinking. My questions are as follows:

    1. How do I go about checking to see if it is intact/operational?
    2. How do I reactivate it?
    3. Would any remote function as long as I could get the right chip?

    Thanks in advance!

Maybe you ask this question on the U.K. 7 Register in the E32 section. There is Timm who might answer, he is excellent in electronics.

as far as i know you can set the alrm by deadlocking the car,the led should come on.....As far as testing maybe before you lock the car unlatch the bonnet and after locking see the led come on,open the bonnet and see what happens.I have never heard the alarm I am not even sure I have one although i have the led on the dash vent and the sensor next to the sunroof switch

Yeah it doesnt switch on after deadlocking, but the battery backup siren, the control box and LED are there. Its odd though that it only switched on after disconnecting the battery. Then after starting the vehicle it remains silent.
