Gene it sounds like the LKM could be questionable, might want to pull it out and inspect the soldered connections and repair as needed.
'89 525a headlights quit as I was stoppping for SS. Flicked HL switch off/on several times and they came back on. Is there a circuit breaker that resets itself on turnoff of headlights? '68 Ford had system like that.

REviseion. Apparently only low beams fail. Hi OK.
Definitely the LKM. Open 'er up and check the solder joints.

LKM. I had the same issue a few weeks back. Resoldered the relays and the problem went away.
OK, but what/where is LKM. Have seen comments bout LKM before. Hoped I wouldn't have to display my ignorance.
See link for LKM details and soldering.

It's under the hood in the same box as all the fuses -- the big long one nearest the fender. It says LKM on it. Oh, and don't be afraid to pull on it ... it's not as easy to get out as it looks -- at least mine wasn't.Originally Posted by Gene in NC
