Default What is the primary reason for leaky gaskets?

    Hi,

I recently replaced VC gasket and now oil is leaking in some other place(s). I searched through this forum and I find lots of them saying they replaced one gasket and another is leaking. Are we missing something? What do you guys think is the reason(s) for gaskets to fail?

I understand that gaskets give away when they cant with stand the pressure. This can happen either because gaskets are aged or because pressure inside is too high that you replace one it knocks down the other.

I have one basic dumb question. How oil pressure is regulated in the motor?

    Thanks
    Arun

    Default like most of us

We dry out & shrink with age.

Plus oil leaks on to rubber based gaskets eventually helps them to fail as well.

Gaskets shrink as they age, and repeated heating and cooling eventualy cause them to fail.

There should be virtualy no crankcase pressure on a on your car, If you have any pressure building up in the engine, something is wrong.

Oil pressure is regulated by a simple spring loaded valve in the oil pump.
