I'm not a tranny expert by any means, but the 4hp22 is a very tempermental transmission. It barely stands up to the stock horsepower due to some of the flaws zf made when it was manufactured. I don't know much about the reman units as to whether or not they are made any better. I know someone on here knows more on this subject than I do. I just know the hell my tranny has put me through.

Welcome Nate! Jeff's right, you'll have to take pics as you tastfully customize (to the degree you'd like to) your Bimmer. An E34 particularly likes things like tastefull wheels (#5's, Throwing Stars, and M-Parallels are the OEM favorites, although there are other nice aftermarket ones out there), clears all around (I too must get around to clearing my fronts), shadowline trim (black trim around the windows) and euro-bumper trim (reflectorless rub strips inboards of the bumpers)...oh, and yes, reasonable tinting (should be even tint front and back, limo is a bit much). Did I forget a tasteful lowering to eliminate the huge air gap between front tire and fender like Jeff had for years (some nonsense about running stuff on the gravel back roads of rural Michigan )?

    Cheers,

Welcome aboard! Your BMW looks a lot like mine. Keep me posted on your mods so I know what they'll look like if I do them!

    Welcome Nate.

Oh oh, will I be able to post pics of my 87 335ist?

Look it's simple, I did the math, it's an e30 with an m30 out of an e34, so e34 minus e30 leaves me with e4 so I am not too far down, pleezzzzeee can I?

I am turbocharging it as well and hopefully get the 1200 rwhp on the salt flats soon.

    Default Thanks for the welcome!

Everyone, thank you for the welcome!
No worries, I have no problem with those rules:
    RULES OF BOARD:

    1. Search

    2. No 525's with m5 emblems (well unless you want to get an onslaught of negative feedback)

    3. No LED tail lights

    4. Don't claim to be building a 1200whp salt flat E34 with carbon fiber 4" widebody on each side with 355/30/xx tires...

clhorton "RULE 5: Ask no questions pertaining to the 4hp22 transmission."
    - I believe I have the A5S 560Z transmission, so I shouldn't be asking any questions about that one.

Another thing, I won't be doing is putting a rediculously large airfoil on the back!

I appreciate this car because it is classly, yet has got plenty of power hidden beneath. I'll keep you guys and gals posted on mods, if and when they happen.

    God Bless,
    Nate

    Welcome Nate!!!

Don't forget to check out the largest e34 gathering in the world. I know that someone else on the board from Texas was looking to caravan up to the meet.

    Check it out here: www.bimmer.info/~events
