Default Interesting price comparison, In the past most of the

older mercedes parts prices were on par with bmw parts prices, looks like they are changing. I worked on a 96 e320 yesterday, had to replace this water pump. 270.00 for a rebuilt pump. 28 for a thermostat 24 for a gallon of mercedes long life coolant and 12 for a oil filter.... Seems their pricing themselves out of the used car class too.

Yes, I've noticed that with the upkeep of my '82 300td. The subframe bushing kit from buymbparts is almost $80 today -- I did the same job on an '82 coupe about four years ago and the parts were less than $50. Fortunately, supplies for basic upkeep seem to be holding pretty steady. Then again, my W123 is pretty agricultural compared to the more recent models. I think I like it that way ...

BTW, Bill, am I mistaken, or did you frequent Rich Sexton's MBZ.ORG mailing list five or six years ago?

But it's a *really* *nice* water pump.

I'm surprised that BMW parts haven't shot up the same way, what with the loss in value of the dollar WRT mosts other currencies, but especially the Euro. I don't have the figures at my fingertips, but I'd estimate that since mid-'00 the dollar has fallen at least 30% and as much as 40% against the Euro.

But then, I just bought two liters of LT-2. $50. But it's *really* *nice* juice, though.

Default This was through the dealer, with my discount. I'd

venture to guess that it doubled over what i paid maybe a year and a half ago for the same model car.

Bill, here's a link for some comparative pricing. When your customers can afford to wait for a day or two, it could save them some money. Probably not any different than BMA, but I can have parts for Natalies car in 2 days, without paying extra for shipping. Click on "The Fast Lane"...it's not a bad forum for Mercedes either.

Default Yep, Bma can usually get me mercedes stuff at a better price too but

time was of the essence on this one. And i didn't know what i would need until I got into it and found the problem
