Default stomp test possible on non-US spec cars

I just found an interesting info from Fugo who is living in Jablonec nad Nisou ,CZ and is a great DIYer and just builds up a Biturbo E32 750iL , to make the stomp test possible on 750 from 05/1991 on with DME 1.7 (not possible with 1.2)
    See Bentley Repair Manual 100-16, ELE-201, ELE-89.
First of all install a bulb in the cluster into the empty socket for the check engine light. Then connect on both MOTRONICS additional new cables on ECU I pin 8 + ECU II pin 8 and connect it to the cluster on connector X502 pin 3.
Then start the procedure for the stomp test as shown on my website below. For the 6 cylinder bank # I push the accelerator pedal 5 times, for the 6cylinder bank # II 6 times.

Switch ignition in position 2. wait till EML light is off, 5 times for ECU I and 6 times for ECU II.
    ---------------------------------------------------
That is for the 750, sorry

But I assume that many of you have waited for this info also for the E34, people in AUS, NZ, Fiji etc.

Try it and let me know. Not such a big deal to do it.

You say above to install a bulb for the check engine light. Do Euro spec cars do not have that check engine function (light)? I think check engine in my car lights up when I switch on the ignition and goes off after a while.

That is a different light you are talking about. I am talking about the possibility to make the socalled stomp test to get acquire flash codes to read faults in the engine system. That was required by law since about 1987. Therefore only U.S. cars do have this function. Have a look here

Default Yes, have no CEL light in my car, may be if I ...

wire an external bulb, just for the test, to pin 15 of DME, I could have that feature.

    On the same note,

Are any folks with e34s purchased in Canada able to get the 'Stomp Test' to work. I've attempted on a couple of occasions with no success (10/90 build date 525im).

    Anyone?
