Default Jr ///M5 e34 Owners Envy Him and Deer Love Him

For the record, it is Jr (prō-nounced....... jā-ăr') not junior.

When I first became a member of this forum, I kept hearing half joking, half envious remarks about the silver M5 that kicked everyone’s arse in last years virtual car show. People made nasty aspersions about what the owner had to do to win. Ever curious, I searched the archives to find this tribute to Jr's car on its 14th birthday written by witty wordsmith Brian C.

....in "people year" terms, 1 BMW year should equal about 3-4 people years. If you figure that a person is....ahem....hopefully rather well seasoned, experienced, and at a prime spot in their chronological development if they are about 45 or so, then a car that has lasted in today's world to the ripe old age of 14 is certainly a survivor at the very least. And a car that has become a coveted example of it's model certainly should be ranked up there with the "hotties" of the human type too.

Demi Moore, Teri Hatcher, Kim Cattrall, Pierce Brosnan, Denzel Washington, Patrick Swayze....all are well into their 40's and are still considered prime eye-candy by most star-watchers. If Stutz Bearcats and Dusenbergs and the like can make their way up the auction blocks of today and command ridiculous cash for the privilege of their ownership, then I can certainly imagine that M5 of yours getting top dollar in a decade or two also.

Jr’s M5 is automotive perfection. It did have a nasty interaction with a deer, but in the long run only came out better for the experience.

Default Jr's hall of fame car

Because Jr so handily won last year’s virtual car show, it was decided in advance that he would only compete with himself this year and we would just have a coronation for him this year. That is why Jr’s 23 votes did not win him second place. You can only have one term as king of the board.

    Default Gayle Miss Congeniality

I understand that I tied with Winfred for 4th place (honorable mention) with 10 votes because of who I am, not because of my car.

Yes, my car is pretty tricked out for a chick’s car, but I have not done a single improvement to it since I bought it last June. Buying the car was the improvement.

I inherited a 90 525im with 200,000 miles that had belonged to my husband and which had not received sufficient loving. In reading this board, I found an almost identical in appearance 90 535im with 82,000 miles and every modification I could possibly want already done (Dinan chip, Bilstein sports w H&R, RD sways, RD strut brace, 750 bushings, Zimmermans & MetalMasters, O.E. M Parallels staggered).

The before car on the left--The after car on the right

I brought my new baby from the east coast to the west coast and photographed her in front of every tourist attraction between there and here.

I have been hanging our here and making smart remarks ever since. Now I am just one of the guys—right?

I do have some mods planned for this year though. My eisenmann muffler is in the mail and I have a few other things up my sleeve. If I want to be a finalist next year, I might actually have to do something to my car instead of just relying on my charm. And I bought a better camera so look for better pictures in the future.

Default Winfred The Winner of the Who is the Most Irreverent of Them All Award

If there was a contest to decide who on bimmer.info reposts the funniest videos and the most humorous pictures to be found on the internet, Winfred would win hands down. Why should we expect any different for the virtual car show?

The rest of us were waxing our cars and waiting for perfect weather to photograph them in, but not Winfred. Winfred's joke picture got 10 votes and critical acclaim for an action shot and excellent photo-journalism.

It should be noted that a strange thing happened after this winning picture was taken. Winfred’s e34 morph into an ugly, smell diesel truck.

What happened? How could anyone trade an e34 for this smoke belching monster?

Gayle, thank-you for the summery of the show and the detailed description of the history of this years Virtual E34 Car Show, nice job.

You are truly, the Official Board Sweetheart. Filling a position that has been void for many years. Not many women last too long around here. Your love of the marque, and the board, has proved unparalled along with the many things you bring to the table to help with the administration of this board. I appreciate your insight and intuition. We've needed something like this for a long time. Just wanted you to know that you and your talents are very much appreciated around these parts...

Tip for next years show, take a shot of you IN the car.... nekked.... ok, bikini clad.. You will win for sure!

Congratulations to this years winner. Jon's car is a work of art, and it's still in progress. His photographic skills along with a "one of a kind" E34 has earned him top kudos in the E34 world. Congratulations Jon on an E34 well done. It's too bad BMW didn't consult you when they were picking out the factory green color for the E34 model. Lovely car indeed.

Kudos to Brodee, and Josh for 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Brodee's excellent taste shows through in the Alpine White E34 with just the right amount of lowering and those AC wheels. Shows just how timeless these models really are, with just some subtle mods. Congratulations Brodee!

Josh's photos are second to none however, as the photography skills of his friend show just how photogenic the E34 really is, just how can you go wrong with the subject matter? Beautiful shots Josh, your car looks gorgeous.

Winfred deserves more than an honorable mention, and you have to look past the photos to see what is meant by that. Winfred gives freely of his knowledge to the board to help others. This is an attribute that sets this board apart from other message boards. Members like winfred, that know their stuff! For all you do winfred, this board's for you.

Finally, thanks to all the participants of this years Virtual E34 Car Show, there was many awesome pictures and awesome BMW's this year.

The E34 Virtual Car Show would not be possible without our Ed. We want to THANK-YOU for hosting and sponsoring the board's annual car show. We do appreciate your hard work and dedication in providing the board for us.
Thanks again Ed, for another successful car show, the Ben Hur edition....

Now let's see how many of you can make it to Chicago this year when we have our annual show for real....Brandon has secured our grove in the park, and promises it to be the "biggest E34 show in the world". Take a long weekend, or a weeks vacation, drive a few hundred miles or drive across country. Meet people that make this board happen. It will be an event to remember. Remember, it can't happen without YOU!

    See you there!

I am planning to attend and I am going to bring Mr. Gayle (for a little while anyway). The only question is drive or fly. If the eisenmann sounds really good, I want to drive.
