Sorry for the newbie screw-up. Please forgive an old man.
I own a 91 M5 and 94 525i five speed (170K). I want to remove the AC from the 525 and I have been told that by removing the AC I'll lose the defrost. Is that the case?

I never use it in the summer and I would like to rid the car of the extra weight. Sounds to me I may have to keep it if i want to see the road.

It is safety issue.. so keep it. You never know when you want to use AC.
