Your battery isnt under your rear seat? I though all 535i e34 batterys were under the rear seat...

If your battery isn't under the rear seat - where the heck is it? There's not much room under the hood . . .

the vent kit comes with whatever battery you purchase. The design of batteries are different so there isn't a "universal" vent kit. The batteries I've seen that are mfg'd by Johnson Controls (Duralast 49 DL, Interstate MTP-93, DieHard, etc) have the battery vent hole in the center of the battery...and their kit comes attached to the side of the battery and looks like this:

The BMW battery (and Douglas 95R) has the vent hole on the side and connects to the car's hose with a small elbow fitting...it looks like this:

If you have another brand battery...and their is a vent hole in it...you can puchase plastic hosing at your local hardware store and vent your battery that way. Sometimes a previous owner has disconnected the cars vent hose and you may need to buy enough hosing to go from the battery out through the grommet in the battery compartment.

Alternetvly you can buy an Optima battery. They are sealed units and are not supposed to outgas hydrogen unless its overcharged.

Default No way, use the vented batteries. My vent kit!!! ...

is nothing but a tiny clear plastic hose plugging into the battery venting port and going trough the floor groomet just besides the battery.

FYI guys- the early ('89-90) M20 525i's have the battery under the hood. It's sort of towards the front of the engine bay, passenger side.
