have an alarm?

when I bought it I had to go order a new 3 button keyfob for remote lock/unlock (which has some intermittent performance issues... like taking 25 seconds to want to remotely lock).

I'm wondering if all E34's are equipped with an alarm? and if so, has mine been deactivated? or is it dead?
