i will never bitch about a 850 or 960 again after working on the oh so wonderful 2000 s40 today that we sold last week, i think it's the first pure design from ford and boy does it ****ing suck, i think the mazda it's based on may be a decent car.
850s are not too bad but tend to piss oil all over themselves and it's not as cheep and easy to make them stop leaking as the older cars were, i find them to be about used up at 200k miles, the 960 is the same motor with a extra hole both go boom when the rubber band snaps, i think the 940 is just about the best car volvo made with the 91-93 240s a second, the 940 is a evolution of the 740 which can be ok but had it's share of fixable problems, id say the perfect 940 would be a 94 turbo 95 was the last year and a lot of them were stripped some turbos didn't even have boost gauges or badges plus they had drl's i hate drl's if i want the damn lights on ill turn them on, it'd be less annoying if they came on with the motor so you could listen to the radio without running the lights. the 91 and up 240s were the best because they for the first time since they started building them in 1975 had a decent ac and engine wiring that didn't disolve on contact with air, if you want a good cheep car to stack a ton of highway miles on get a 91 and up 240 and install the tranny from a 89 and up non turbo 740-940, the lock up torque converter tranny makes a auto 240 about perfect and it's a direct swap (grand parents got 35 mpg or better with the 91 240 i built for them)
all america wants is cold beer warm cat and a place to take a poop with a door on it
