    Default Need advice in Australia

First off, hi to everyone, I havn't been here for quite a while but now I'm in real trouble. I took my '90 525I M20 Auto to my mechanic because I was loosing coolant. Of course it turned out to be the worst possible result. Not only cracked head, but warn cam as well. His quote for new cam, lifters, adjusters, gasket and head including labour was $2300.00. Does anyone know where I could find a reconditioned head assembly in the Sydney area that won't take Christmas away from my kids. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where in Oz are you? How well do you know your mechanic? Can you organise and installment pay deal?

I'm on the Central Coast and trust my mechanic. Just don't think he shopped around much on the prices. Does $2300 seem high to you.

Tim, ring Bee Ems in Hornsby (9477 6201) and talk to Rob (owner) he should put you straight on what is required.
    Good luck with it,

hey another coastie. i was wondering when it was there would be another. if I havent seen 20 bloody e34s appear in the last 6 months. who is the mechanic? if u need a lift down to pick up parts im in sydney 3-4 times a week. Are u at all mechanically minded and able to do labour yourself? what has worthingtons quoted for supply and supply/fit? i get a small discount if its of any help. if u can find out what the indy is charging for parts there might be an opportunity to save a few bucks on parts. pm me if ur interested
