Default First lengthy road trip with the e34!

The car was perfect, as usual. It wasn't too long a trip, up and back to Dayton Ohio from Atlanta, total of 996.3 miles on the trip odo. It was, save for the time I bought the car in VA, the longest trip I've had in it since 2003, when I purchased it. Averaged 25.3 mpg at about 85-90 cruising speeds, with bursts of ~120 through some of the desolate KY/TN mountain areas. Not bad!

With Sirius satellite radio, the car is a great highway cruiser, altough a little bouncy on some of the rougher roads because of the suspension. No complaints here, though!

Yeah--highway (autoban) cruiser is the sweet spot for these cars.

you can say that again i do 400 km (150 miles) per week to work and back of mostly highway driving, there is no car like it for highway cruising. If only people would keep left (we drive on the left of course)...... it would be the perfect way to start and end the day

Before I took off, I just made sure the spark plugs were new, auto trans fluid was good, and coolant was topped up. I know everything else is in good repair/had recently been changed (fluid-wise).

having the coolant system functioning properly is a must (bleed), tyre pressures, all fluids topped up. its amazing how much tyre pressures can alter the feel of the car on the highway
