Default Another wheel option for E34's

    Hey guys,

I received some great advice to my questions in the past about changing the control arms. I thought maybe I could contribute a little tidbit here to my E34 friends.

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but come to find out, wheels off of the current production 5 series (E60) have the same hub center bore diameter and offset as our beloved E34's.

I was in the market for some 16" wheels to upgrade my '94 540iA and found a BMW dealer in SC selling some "take-offs" from a newish E60 525i. I had decided that I definitely wanted 16 inchers as I did not want to sacrifice highway ride quality or get into any new tramlining problems.

Below are a few pics of the wheels on the car. I think they look pretty good. Please, no comments about the dirty car... I just got back from a test ride and as you can see, there was still a little snowcover on the back roads.

Thanks. Yeah I did not know they would fit until the dealer said they would, and then I checked into the dimensions. The tires I got with them (Conti Touring Contacts) though essentially new (10/32") are not the greatest in terms of performance. But they do ride very soft and are quiet.

One reason I was looking to upgrade was the crappy Continental Extreme Contacts I had on the stock 15" wheels before. They are noisey, super tough to get balanced right, and they flat spot if parked for more than about 20 minutes in the cold. Then for the first 1/2 hour of driving it's like your driving the Flintstone's car.

Everything is nice in smooth with these now shoes on...

Yes, it may not be common knowledge but I know I've been posting this info for a while...I guess no one ever listens to lil' ol' me!

BTW, I like 'em on your car.

here's a few past posts where I listed this info:
