yes, the radiator is doing its job.
I just replaced the radiator in my '95 525. It took me awhile to get all the air out of the system (at least I think I am air free). After my 26 mile commute, the top radiator hose is hot to the touch (I would expect it to be hot) but the lower hose is cool to the touch. I am guessing the lower hose is in the 70°F range. The car warms up in 4-5 miles and stays in the normal operating temp range on the gauge (half way) and never moves. The temperature here in Portland over the past few days has ranged from 25°F to 40°F.
Is this cool lower radiator hose normal for this type of ambient temperatures?
TIA
Eric
