Default electric power protection relay, I think

hi, newbie here, just signed up...

on my 1990 525 m50 e34 I have an electrcal issue. Power windows, sunroof, power locks e.g. are non functional.

I traced this down to the "electric power protection relay" shutting power off, leaving the general module inoperative.

What's the "electric power protection relay" for?

And what circumstances causes the system to deside to turn itself off like this?

(the "electric power protection relay" is controlled by the general module).

    Please advice.

Also, is there a way to disable the factory alarm? I can't turn it off,
    when the locks are inoperative.

could also be the fusible link a large "fuse" right near the battery often they have a hairline crack that will pass power but not large currents to operate the power hungry things....try a seach on that or look here
