Default oil leak...92 525iTa...left side near the...

front of engine by oil pan. I think I read something about the crank position switch area (which I do not know where that is) about second cylider back on engine from front. Hard to see down there around suspension & oil pan. I replace the sending unit on bottom of pan because from driveway that's where I thought it was dripping. N-o-o-o, too easy. Anybody recall that crank sensor oil leak related post?

Perhaps your valve cover gasket is leaking and the oil is running down the side of the block, past the exhaust manifold and to the pan?

There is also a gasket between the timing case and the block. That gasket may be leaking. It is a two piece gasket.

I would clean the engine well and then look closely for the leaking oil.

Default Thanks, Scott...I cleaned it pretty good but still hard to

see up in there from laying on my back in the driveway. Could be that timing gasket but I'll also check the valve cover. I hope that is the one!

Mine has a leak, but it is the crank seal (M50 engine) I have replaced the oil pan & valve cover gaskets, but still have the leak. It is not worth the time or money in my case to fix it.
