e38 steering wheel in e34

Hey guys I was wondering if any e38 steering wheels would fit in the e34, in praticular the ones with the heated wheel feature. Every winter I dream of having this option. I read somwhere the e38 wheel changed in 98/99 or somthing, so would a pre 98 work?

However, I also have often wondered about other cross usages that don't display. What's the factor the prevents one from putting any BMW steering wheel on any other BMW car? Can this be overcome with adapters? If you ever find out the answers to these questions please post it on this board.
