I can't see the heater/ac fan knob at all at night, or the temperature knobs for that matter. I'm guessing there's a bulb behind the knob that's burned out. Is it hard to replace?

My bulb is being changed on Monday when it goes to the specialist Be emms in Sydney (quick plug!). Yes it will light up. Check the archive for a thread on how to change it yourself.

Mine were out when I got the car. There's 2 or 3 bulbs back there. I think Bruno covers the subject.Originally Posted by Picatavi

Yes there are bulbs back there. To access them you need to remove the radio and the fan cables and push the control module out. You will need to remove the plastic backing from the ac/heater controls to access the lights.
The lights use 12v 1.2watt bulbs I believe. The same bulbs that go in your dash cluster (the small ones, not the three big ones) will work although they might not look exactly the same.
It's an easy job, just takes a little bit of time to figure it out. There's not much you can screw up as long as you keep all of the screws you remove in a safe place and remember which order the fan cables go in.
I just had to replace my OBC lights and my fan control lights about two weeks ago, so the procedure is still pretty fresh in my mind. Bentley manual helps, but isn't necessary at all.
